Are you a young person wanting support or information in relation to alcohol and drug use?
At Meli, we’ll listen and provide non-judgmental support including counselling, outreach support, case management or other therapeutic services. We can also help to link you in to other services that you may need including youth homelessness, mental health, employment and GP services.
Meli operates in partnership with other drug and alcohol support providers, offering a broad range of services to support young people including:
Youth Alcohol and Other Drugs-outreach support
Youth AOD Outreach (YAOD) services help young people between the age of 12 and 25 years to address their AOD use issues and build resilience. This is achieved through an assertive, person centered, family sensitive and trauma informed approach that is integrated with a range of other services including mental health, education, health, housing, child protection and family services.
Forensic YAOD
YAOD supports young people who are mandated to seek AOD treatment as a result of their contact with the criminal justice system and are mandated to attend treatment as a condition of their order or diversion.
Drug Diversion
Supporting young people apprehended by the police for use or possession of an illicit drug other than cannabis may be offered a caution on the condition that they undertake a clinical- drug assessment and attend at least one session of any prescribed drug treatment.
Youth Mental Health Clinicians (working alongside headspace)
This service provides counselling supports to young people for whom Mental Health Care Plans through the Better Access Medicare Scheme are in accessible due to high demand.
