Volunteers are an instrumental component in helping Meli meet the needs of vulnerable people in our community. Volunteers are a vital part of our team. They make a unique contribution by providing valuable support that complements Meli Staff.
Why volunteer?

Who can volunteer?
Do you have:
- A passion to work with children, young people and families
- Skills to engage with children, young people and families with respect and warmth
- An ability to maintain clear boundaries with children, young people and families
- Collaborative team work skills
- Good verbal communication skills
- An understanding of confidentiality
Are you willing to:
- Commit to a volunteer role for an agreed amount of time
- Undertake a National Police Check
- Hold a Working with Children Check
- Undertaking orientation, supervision and training as required
Volunteer Positions
Meli offers a range of volunteering opportunities across our organisation which include but are not limited to:
- Group Work Support within Playgroups, Parenting Groups & Youth Groups
- Homework Support for children and young people
- Mentoring children and young people in Foster Care
- Conversational English with Refugee and Asylum Seekers
- Event Support
- Project / Administration Support

If you are interested in becoming a Meli Volunteer, please complete the online application form and attach a copy of your resume for consideration.
All potential volunteers will be required to:
- Complete a formal Application Form
- Participate in an interview
- Provide appropriate references
- Provide a current Working with Children Check
- Undergo a National Police Check
