Kindness and generosity makes all the difference.
Meli receives in kind donations from individuals, schools and businesses in the local community. These donations make a huge difference and support our children, young people and families in need.
We are very grateful for offers of all donations from the community, however, please keep in mind we are only able to accept donations of new and unused items.
For safety and hygiene reasons, and the fact that we don’t have resourcing to sort, collect or store much within our offices, we are unable to accept donations of second-hand or used items.
Here are some suggestions of places where you can donate your second-hand items:
- Good quality baby clothes, bedding, car seats and cots: Geelong Mums
- Furniture and white goods: Encompass Homestart and Salvos both offer a collection service
- Home computers and printers: ComputerBank
- Clothing, bric-a-brac and bedding: Your local charity or op shop, such as ReadyStart, Salvation Army and Uniting Care.

Case Study
The impact of your donation
Escaping a relationship with family violence often means walking out of your home with very little or no possessions. Perhaps just a bag with a few pairs of clothes and some toiletries. Zara* left with only what she could carry and the bare necessities for survival.
She reached out to Meli during an extremely tough time, she was experiencing homelessness and felt hopeless. She knew that her journey seeking stability was only just beginning, and that long term change would take time. Fortunately, she was also able to receive immediate and tangible support from Meli.
Through generously donated goods Zara was able to access clothes for her upcoming job interview and linen to use in her crisis housing unit. She also had a towel to shower with and a comb to brush her hair. She was able to feel a much-needed sense of self-worth and this helped give her the strength to face what was next.
