Meli is a participating institution in the National Redress Scheme
The scheme addresses the harm and hurt, and provides acknowledgement and support, to people who experienced sexual abuse as children while in the care of institutions.
The National Redress Scheme was established in response to the 2012 Royal Commission into Institutional Responses to Child Sexual Abuse, which estimated that 60,000 people experienced institutional child sexual abuse in Australia.
We are committed to addressing the wrongs of the past and providing survivors of child sexual abuse with the support they deserve. We encourage survivors to learn about their options in seeking redress through the scheme.
How to access the National Redress Scheme
People who successfully apply can gain access to:
- counselling
- a Redress payment
- a direct personal response from the institution (for example, an apology).
