Meli is looking for young people to join a Youth Advisory Group and help shape decisions, programs, and services that affect young people.
This is a chance to share your experiences, ideas, and opinions — and make a real difference.
It’s a group of 6 -8 young people, aged 17 – 25 who use their voices to:
- share ideas with Meli leaders
- improve programs for young people
- make sure real youth experiences shape decisions.
- A 90 minute session every 3 weeks
- Meet online or in person
- Commitment for 12 months
As a group member, you could:
- share feedback based on your own experiences
- talk about issues affecting young people
- take part in group discussions
- help Meli leaders understand what matters for young people’s safety, connection, health and wellbeing.
Group members will receive a $75 retail gift voucher for each session they attend. This is Meli’s way of recognising the value of their time, experience, and expertise.
As a member, you’ll have the chance to:
- connect with other young people
- build relationships with Meli’s senior leaders
- grow your confidence, skills, and leadership experience
- make a real impact on the work Meli does and the decisions it makes.
We’ll do what we can to make sure you’re supported to take part by offering:
- a safe, respectful, and inclusive space
- support before, during, and after meetings
- help with accessibility needs (like transport or online access)
- clear information about what to expect
- check-ins around wellbeing.
You won’t be expected to do this alone — support is always available.
We want to hear from young people who:
- are aged between 17-25
- have lived experience of challenging circumstances (now or in the past)
- want to share their ideas and experiences
- care about issues affecting young people
- come from different backgrounds, identities, and life experiences.
You don’t need any special skills or experience — just a willingness to be involved.
What happens next?
There will be a group information session (see details below).
This is a chance to learn more and ask questions before deciding if this is right for you.
You can attend the session with no commitment.
Date: June 4th
Time: 1.30pm – 3.00pm
Location: Meli, 222 Malop St, Geelong
If you’re still interested after the information session, you’ll be invited to a casual one-on-one catchup with a Meli staff member. These chats are informal and not paid.
At every stage, we can put supports in place to help you participate.
If you’d like a confidential chat about supports, please contact Torrie on 0419 133 847.
