Teacher Kate moved from Brisbane to Colac to join Wydinia Kindergarten last year.
She says it is the best decision she has ever made.
Having spent time as a childcare educator as well as a primary school teacher, Kate says she has found kindergarten teaching her favourite of the three environments. Teaching kindergarten has offered her great opportunities to work with 3 and 4-year-old children as well as still having work-life balance.
Moving to Colac, although a big move, has proved really beneficial for Kate, who has felt extremely supported by the kindergarten and wider Colac community. She is also able to visit some of the most beautiful areas in Victoria that are right on her doorstep, from the Great Ocean Road, the Twelve Apostles, the Otways and all of the lovely towns across the way where beautiful food, drink and art experiences are abundant.
“I feel like I’ve learnt so much in the short time I’ve been here,” Kate says.
“It’s a great community to live in, it’s a great community to work in.
“It’s been such a hugely impactful experience for me.”
There are currently vacancies across BCYF’s Colac kindergartens.
As well as Colac being a supportive and welcoming community, there are attractive relocation bonuses available for eligible candidates making the move.

“It was a big leap to make the move but it’s just been the best decision I’ve ever made,” Kate says.
