About RESET Rental and Mortgage Stress Program

Meli provides a free, confidential and non-judgemental service called RESET to people who are experiencing rental or mortgage stress and related financial difficulties.  RESET offers support to individuals and families who are at risk of eviction or property repossession. Our specialised Systems Navigators and Financial Counsellors will help you or a loved one through what can be a very difficult time.

What does a RESET Systems Navigator do?

Our RESET Systems Navigator assists individuals and families to navigate complex social service systems. They can advocate and support people to understand their rights and options and break down the barriers to access support. They can play a crucial role in coordinating care and help you understand the best way to deal with mortgage or rental stress.

What does a RESET Financial Counsellor do?

Our RESET Financial Counsellors can assist mortgage holders and renters facing housing-related financial difficulties. They help with resolving mortgage debt issues, as well as rental payment challenges, ensuring that individuals and families do not risk losing their homes due to financial strain. Our Financial Counsellor will conduct a full assessment of your financial situation including all income and expenditure, assets and liabilities, and provide case work support for mortgage-related financial problems.

Who is it for?

Anyone that is experiencing financial difficulties paying their mortgage or rent and falls within Meli’s catchment areas is eligible.

Available locations:

• Barwon Region: City of Greater Geelong, Colac Otway Shire, and Surf Coast Shire.
• Great South Coast: Glenelg Shire, the City of Warrnambool, and Moyne Shire.
