Kate Langbroek set to inspire at Meli foster care event

Beloved comedian, television and radio personality Kate Langbroek will help Meli launch the Foster a Future appeal in September.

Kate will be the guest speaker at this year’s Foster a Future Breakfast, kicking off a month-long fundraising and awareness campaign.

Kate’s contention is that dreaming alone is not enough – that the world is built by those who actually do – and she will share her experiences with trademark warmth and wit at the event on Thursday 5 September.

The Foster a Future Appeal supports Meli’s foster care program, highlighting the important role of carers in our community and the urgent need for more people to provide a safe and nurturing home for a child or young person.

Meli receives around three referrals a day, and sadly half of these requests cannot be met due to insufficient carers in the region.

Funds raised through the Foster a Future appeal will help Meli recruit, train and retain Foster Carers, as well as providing extra support and activities for children and young people in care.

Not everyone can commit to being a Foster Carer, but through Meli’s annual Foster a Future Appeal anyone can support the work of Foster Carers and contribute to the wellbeing of children in care.

Popular radio and television personality, Myf Warhurst, who has first-hand experience of foster caring, will return to GMHBA Stadium to MC the breakfast for the second year. Geelong-based singer and vocal coach Kim Cooper, who shot to fame as a finalist on Australian Idol 15 years ago, will also entertain guests.
