On Wednesday 7 May, Victoria turned purple in a moving visual tribute as part of Safe Steps Candlelight Vigil. Buildings and landmarks across the state were illuminated purple to remember women and children killed by family and domestic violence, to honour their memories and bring attention to this national crisis.
Thank you to the local organisations in Geelong who showed their support of this powerful campaign. Together, we take a stand against family and domestic violence.
Organisations including the Anthony Costa Foundation, APCO, Barwon Health, Barwon Water, City of Greater Geelong, Deakin University, Energy Australia, Gawk, Geelong Arts Centre, Geelong Broadcasters, Geelong Gallery, Give Where You Live, Kardinia Park Stadium Trust, Surf Coast Shire, The Gordon, The Orange Door, The Sexual Assault & Family Violence Centre, Victoria Police and some of the Meli buildings were illuminated in purple which was a powerful visual across central Geelong.
