From crisis to comfort: how Meli and Regenerate are transforming lives

Meli’s partnership with Regenerate is changing lives.

A Meli client who had courageously escaped family violence recently moved into a newly leased home that was fully furnished and set up by Regenerate, completely free of charge.

The empty home was filled with new furniture, essential appliances and freshly laundered bedding, giving the family a warm, welcoming environment to begin rebuilding their lives,

“It felt like “being involved in a reality TV show,” the client shared. “I will be forever indebted to the Regenerate team who furnished the unit with gorgeous new furniture and added beautiful decor as well as providing living essentials … right down to a veggie peeler. I felt respected and non-judged of my circumstances. I now feel I have found home,” she said.

Meli’s Team Leader Specialist Women and Children Melanie Lamaro said the partnership with Regenerate had been a wonderful source of essential bedding, household items and packs to help children feel comforted and cared for during a time of transition.

“We’re incredibly grateful for Regenerate’s ongoing generosity and care for our clients,” Mel said.

Providing practical support – through home packages and crisis duffels – is a crucial first step in helping individuals and families rebuild their lives, according to Regenerate General Manager Claire Bauska.

“Through our collaboration, we have been able to provide two comprehensive home packages and over 50 crisis duffels, delivering essential material aid to those who need it most,” Claire said.

“By working with Meli, we can focus on our strengths – providing essential material support – while trusting that our contributions play a vital role in a larger ecosystem of care and recovery,” Claire said.

“Together, we are working to break cycles of disadvantage and create pathways to brighter futures for vulnerable families in the Geelong community.”
