The respected community organisation joined Meli in July 2024 to build on its success and improve opportunities for people, with a key focus on those in Geelong’s northern suburbs.
Northern Futures and Meli are working together to empower people and strengthen our local communities.

Eligibility Criteria
Each course has its own eligibility requirements – see course information for more.
Priority is given to people living in 3214 postcode or surrounding suburbs.
All Northern Futures participants must meet ‘eligible jobseeker’ criteria set by Jobs Victoria for the Brotherhood of St Laurence Work and Learning Centres:
- A) is one of the following:
- Australian citizen
- Australian permanent resident
- Temporary resident under Australia’ refugee and humanitarian program who holds a visa with right to work
- New Zealand citizen who has been living in Australia for more than 12 months.
B) is resident in VictoriaC) has been unemployed for at least 26 weeks, or is at risk of long-term unemployment, or is underemployed (working less than 12 hours per week in casual or intermittent employment) and is experiencing multiple employment barriers; andD) lacks adequate support through other services, including Commonwealth Government employment services.
